High West Distillery’s Wanship location sits on a working ranch property in Summit County, flanked by the Weber River and overlooking the Uinta Mountains. Utah’s first legal distillery since Prohibition, the venue carries that history in every detail: reclaimed wood, whiskey barrel accents, warm amber interiors, and a food and cocktail program that is genuinely exceptional.
The reception space is half indoor, half outdoor — guests move freely between the mountain air and the interior, the dance floor doesn’t feel like a box, and on a Utah summer evening the indoor half provides real relief from the heat. The acoustics are built for live performance: bands and DJs both sound exactly as they should, and the energy on that dance floor reflects it.
The property neighbors Blue Sky Ranch, so the mountain setting is vast and undeveloped in every direction. At golden hour the views are almost unreasonable.

The first thing to plan: get ready somewhere else. High West’s Wanship property is a working venue without dedicated bridal prep space. Most couples use a Park City hotel for getting-ready coverage, then arrive at High West for the ceremony. About 20 minutes from Park City town — build it into your timeline.
Guest transportation is non-negotiable here. Wanship is remote and the bar program is excellent. A shuttle from Park City or Salt Lake City keeps guests safe, keeps the energy on property, and keeps nobody leaving early to beat the drive.
The indoor-outdoor flow of the reception space creates layered candid coverage all evening. I work both spaces rather than anchoring in one spot. For golden hour portraits, the mountain light at High West is spectacular — build 45 minutes into your timeline and protect that window.
